Qld Gov Energy Savers Appliance Rebate
Everything you need to know about the Queensland Government’s new appliance rebate initiative.
On August 1 2023, the QLD Government announced a household energy savings program which aims to help Queenslanders upgrade their old appliances with more new energy efficient appliance to save on rising energy costs.
From September 3 when you purchase an eligible appliance, you can apply to receive a generous rebate between $300 and $1,000 per appliance.
Climate Smart Energy Savers
The first stage of the initiative involves $10million of rebates of between $300 and $1,000 will be available for eligible Queensland householders who replace old appliances with 4 star-rated (or higher) appliances and hot water systems from 4 September 2023 — until the program closes.
Eligible appliances must be purchased and installed on or after the program commencement date to be eligible for a rebate and include:
Washing machines and dryers
Dishwashers
Refrigerators (including fridge/freezers)
Air conditioners*
Solar and heat pump hot water systems
*AS4755 compliant and 4 star-rated or higher for cooling.
Only 1 rebate will be available per household. Rebates provided under the program cannot be higher than the total cost to purchase / install an eligible appliance. A maximum of 1,500 rebates will be available for energy efficient hot water systems.
The standard rebate will be available to all eligible Queensland households, with higher rebates for low-income households. Rebates paid will be based on the appliance purchased and installed.
Applicant eligibility criteria will be available when the program opens.
By upgrading appliances, households will save on electricity and reduce carbon emissions.
